PRESIDENTIAL APPOINTMENT – HAMISI MALINGA
FDT proudly bids farewell to Hamisi Iddi Malinga following his appointment by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania as the District Executive Director for Babati District Council.
FDT gave an emotional farewell to Hamisi Iddi Malinga following his appointment by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. John Pombe Magufuli, as the District Executive Director for Babati District Council in July 2016.
Hamisi joined FDT in November 2013 as a Training Coordinator and successfully applied his energy and expertise to help ensure farmers have the skills and knowledge to achieve better managed, more productive and profitable plantations. As a professional forester (Dip, BSc, MSc Sokoine) with over 20 years of extension and community development experience in the government and private sector, Hamisi drew on his specialist knowledge of forest silviculture and plantation management to deliver innumerable training courses spanning the forestry value chain. He also contributed to the development of manuals, guidelines and other materials to support tree growers.
Hamisi was sworn-in as the District Executive Director for Babati District Council on 12 July 2016. In his new role, Hamisi is the Council’s accounting officer, general overseer of all district development projects, responsible for the welfare of the council workers, and ensuring the quality of public services.
In addition to leaving a lasting legacy at FDT, Hamisi let his colleagues know his clear intentions to apply his experience with the Trust, “I will for sure use all the good things that I learned from FDT in Babati and hopefully will bring a big change to save the poor rural and marginalised communities.” FDT is proud to have been part of Hamisi’s journey and wishes him the very best in this new position of responsibility.
